The aim of the site is to provide a mechanism for people working within public services in the region to arrange skills exchange opportunities with colleagues in other organisations. This is intended to support continuing professional development, improvement of services, and to support the exchange of good practice.
The Skills Exchange works by putting people in touch with colleagues from various organisations across the region, who are willing to share their expertise and experience. As a result, both parties will gain knowledge about how other organisations do things, and how they tackle common problems and issues.
In order for this approach to work people must also be willing to offer these opportunities to others in return. We are looking for people to put themselves forward to offer skills exchange opportunities.
Because we are offering this service across a range of organisations we cannot vet the opportunities offered nor can we guarantee the quality of the skills exchange experience or the accuracy of any information gained.
The list of topics against which people can offer opportunities or find them can be developed in response to demand. You can communicate this through the feedback form.
To search for a skills exchange
Go to the Search for a skills exchange opportunity section of the
site where you can input why you are looking for an opportunity, the area
of work this covers and the level of person you would want to contact.
If someone is offering an opportunity which matches your request the site will show you details of the person and their contact information.
If you find a possible match complete Part A of the learning agreement. This allows you to specify your learning objectives and to confirm that you will comply with any additional Health and Safety or confidentiality issues which are specific to the skills exchange opportunity. This agreement will provide useful evidence for CPD records.
Make whatever arrangements are necessary with your manager to allow you to take up this opportunity.
Make contact with the person providing the opportunity and forward the learning agreement with your part complete. They will then confirm whether can assist with the objectives you specify and also identify any particular Health and Safety or confidentiality issues you need to be aware of.
Arrange days/times to suit you both.
After the event both parties should complete a feedback form and submit it so that we can continue to develop the site and the service.
